13 projects from the generative AI hackathon I organized

A week, new teammates, and a working AI product. Thirteen teams took on problems across language, healthcare, hiring, and everyday life.

I conducted a Generative AI Hackathon for the very first time in India along with Nas IO and it was a huge success. I will be honest, I did everything I could to make it valuable for participants. I wanted to over deliver and I did. This blog post aims to highlight the top 13 projects that were made in this hackathon so that they get more visibility and we could appreciate the teams that built them.

About the Hackathon

The entire hackathon was a one-week event focused on building a product using generative AI. Participants start by identifying a real-life problem and citing their sources, then conduct market research and present their findings.

Theme

We want to boost the AI Ecosystem in India so that our country can be one of the leading players in the domain so we kept the theme as “For India, From people of India ”

Vedant Maheshwari

Vedant Maheshwari

He is the CEO and co-founder of Vidyo.ai, a leading AI-driven video editing platform. With a background in social media strategy and content creation, Vedant has worked with top YouTubers and built one of India’s first 10 million subscriber channels.

Purvanshi Mehta

Purvanshi Mehta

She is the CTO and co-founder of Lica World. Prior to Lica, she built large language models at Microsoft and led teams to bring state of the art AI models to consumers. Before joining the industry, she worked in academia focusing on fundamental machine learning and deep learning research.

Kushagra Pandya

Kushagra Pandya

He is the Co-Founder and CTO of vidyo.ai, a revolutionary AI-powered video editing platform. With a background in AI research from MIT, Kushagra has been at the forefront of developing innovative AI solutions. His work includes creating an edge AI upscaling algorithm that saved OTT platforms millions in streaming costs.

Balaji Dhamodharan

Balaji Dhamodharan

He is the Data Science Leader in US and has published several papers in the AI Domain. He was award winner for best innovative AI personality of the year. He is a part of various Round Tables, Data Science Journals in US. His expertise in AI and Research makes him a perfect judge for the hackathon.

The 13 projects

These are the ideas the teams turned into working products. The descriptions reflect their hackathon submissions, with original demos linked where available.

1) Clothing Swap:

This project proposes a B2B/C clothing swap application for retailers. Users upload photos for a virtual try-on experience powered by a stable diffusion model. This fosters user engagement and reduces retailer costs by eliminating physical models and photoshoots. Faster development on our end allows us for planned feature integration (mentioned in the video), leveraging Gradio for the interface and Next.js for the website.

2) Revolutizing Hiring in India:

The team focused on the volume of applications hiring managers receive and the risk of overlooking deserving candidates. Their tool addresses the significant challenge faced by hiring managers in India, by seamlessly collecting resumes from emails, enabling precise shortlisting based on job requirements and specific queries and structuring candidate data. Moreover, its unique feature of conducting AI interviews through avatar-generated interactions ensures a personalized and efficient assessment of each candidate.

3) Toxicity Identification and Mitigation in Hinglish Audio:

A plug and play wrapper where any Hinglish audio input will be scanned for toxic/hate speech/abusive/sexual words and will be mitigated before hitting the core LLM API. I loved this project personally as the tech behind is amazing

4) Kids Story Generator using their photos:

Parents often struggle to find the time and energy to create new bedtime stories for their children every night. Children love hearing bedtime stories, especially ones that involve them as the main character. Our goal is to provide a solution that helps parents create engaging and personalized bedtime stories effortlessly.

5) Nirmaan AI

They empowered Indian businesses to build websites in their regional language — Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, or Punjabi — using just voice! Speak your website requests and Nirmaan’s AI will craft it for you. Need customization? No problem, use voice or text commands for easy adjustments. Perfect for small businesses and startups seeking affordable, professional websites in their local language.

6) Meme Generator and Trend Helper

Trending content explodes fast and is short lived to capitalizing on it requires a content creation powerhouse, not every brand has marketing budget and talent like swiggy, Zomato. So they miss out on this channel of marketing. Using real-time data to find trending topics and instantly generate drafts of content, saving you the time and manpower needed to chase trends from scratch. This lets users focus on refining the content and getting it out quickly, maximizing the impact of those fleeting trends.

7) Productivity AI Journal

It’s like your own personal AI diary that comes to life. You kick it with this AI assistant every day, telling it about your ups and downs, what you got done, and your big dreams. Then, the AI whips up a dope video recap of your day with audio and visuals. But it gets better — it tracks your productivity, gives you detailed progress reports, and even helps you find your ikigai. and you can get mentored by experts to stay motivated and crush your goals. By seamlessly blending AI, multimedia, and self-reflection, this app empowers users to document their lives, foster growth, and unlock their full potential in a captivating and immersive manner.

8) Revolutizing Rural Healthcare

The aim is to improve healthcare in rural India using technology. Villagers can use a voice app to request medicines in their local language. This converts their voice to text and sends the order to a nearby pharmacy. For offline use, customers call a Twilio number and talk to a Dasha AI agent that takes their order. Local health workers and shop owners deliver the medicines, ensuring quick access. Our app supports multiple languages, works offline, and involves the community. This reduces travel costs, improves health, and strengthens local businesses. Our goal is to make essential medicines accessible to every village, improving health and quality of life for rural families.

9) Gen AI Athlete

A multi-model LLM web app which enhances user engagement through the following steps. Upload images, like John’s Messi jersey, and let advanced Image Recognition identify brands and styles. Get personalized product recommendations powered by GPT-4. If no suitable product is found, generate new ones with DALL-E 3. Enhance your listings with detailed descriptions and attributes created by GPT-4, ensuring new products go live seamlessly.

AI-Driven Platform for Simplifying Access to Government Schemes in Rural India. Vision was to create an AI-driven platform that empowers rural Indians by simplifying the process of accessing government schemes. This platform will leverage advanced technologies such as OCR, language models, and AI avatars to provide personalized assistance, ensuring that every eligible individual can easily navigate and benefit from available schemes. Our ultimate goal is to bridge the information gap and streamline the application process, thereby enhancing the socio-economic conditions of rural communities.

11) Finance Predictive Modelling

An AI product build integrating with Tally to gather user inputs such as monthly salary, long-term financial goals, and budgeting methods. The data undergoes an AI workflow, utilizing GPT API calls to generate personalized budget advice. This tailored financial guidance aids users in planning their budgets and managing finances effectively. The advice is delivered through a template via Gmail and stored on Drive for easy access and future reference.

12) Voice My Resume

Convert your resume to a 2-Min short introduction video. Everyone sends a resume to HR and sometimes it gets ignored. But what if you could introduce yourself, in a short video introduction, that too with help of AI. Here comes VoiceMyResume. It will require your Resume and a professional photo, and will generate a brief summary ,curated for a given Job description. With help of Lica’s API, it will generate Face-swapped and Lipsync videos of yours, as if you are giving the introduction yourself. This will definitely help you stand out of the crowd and land your dream job.

13) Mythological Novel Generator

An AI powered kids app that generates immersive visual novels to introduce young children to the world of Indian mythology like Mahabharata and Ramayana. Using large language models, it can dynamically generate stories from a single prompt. Text-to-image models generate visual scenes while text-to-speech narration adds an auditory dimension. We hope to foster cultural awareness and preserving India’s rich literary heritage for future generations. I as an organiser loved every idea and the fact that it was made in a week and with completely random team mates amazes me more.
